This is an opportunity that you don't often get! It is you chance to get an original deck of Civil War playing cards. This is the patriotic style. It has the fours suits as being eagles, shields, flags and stars. For the face cards it appears to be General McClellan as the Jack with Lady Liberty as the Queen and Grant as the King. When you hold these cards you can just imagine the soldiers sitting around the campfire playing a game of cards. The cards have an amazing amount of wear as you can see but they kept right on playing with them. Somewhere along the line the three of Shields and replaced it with a three of clubs from another deck. It stands out but must have been better than not having one at all. The ace of Eagles has the card maker's name proudly displayed on the beautiful cards. It reads "AMERICAN CARD COMPANY" on the ribbon above the eagle. At the bottom it has the New York location of the Company. A mint set of these cards bring almost $2,000 these days. You can get this great looking set that the soldiers played with for less than half of that price.
