This is a neat original Civil War era wallet. This is what soldiers and civilians carried their Civil War pieces of currency inside. It is the better made style that has the small "pockets” and also the closed inner compartment. When it is closed up it measures 5-3/4th inches by 3-1/2 inches in overall size. It has the "ARIEL ROGERS. DANA" maker's marking. It also has the inscription of a name A.G. Lambert and the date of 1844. We will leave the research to you finding out who he was. As you can see the leather is in nice complete condition. This is a very finely made Civil War leather wallet.
