This is a cool letter. This is a one page letter on front and back that is written to Assistant Fred Berg of the 28th New Jersey Volunteers while they were camped in Washington, D.C. It has the original envelope with the stamp intact in the corner. The letter is written by his friend "Emmie" on March 25th 1863 from Hokendauqua. She writes him that she expects more correspondence from him. She mentions that he had said that he had "... been corresponding with another lady". She says that maybe she should respond to the other men that try to contact her. She says she has been writing a soldier down in Key West "...but as a friend, not a lover." This is cool letter about Civil War lovers and they played the same games back then as people do now. What a cool letter.
