This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one is marked on the spout by the maker "Hawksley". Hawksley was one of the premiere powder flask makers of the 1800’s. The body has the violin shaped design that displays beautifully as you can see. This is the pattern that is used to illustrate #663 in Riling's Powder Flask Book. It has the beautiful Lilly-like leaves on the side. The flask stands about 8-1/2 inches tall and is about 4 inches across. The spout is present and the original spring is present and functional. It is the version that is made with four hanging loops on the side and two of them are still present. It has a very attractive overall look!
