This is a very nicely priced original Civil War cavalry saber. This is the classic model 1860 that was carried by the Union cavalryman during the Civil War and is the style most people associate with the war between the states. The sword has a full-length blade with a good well worn look. It has some service nicks along the edge. You can still see the inspector as well as the maker markings. It has the scroll style mark of the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts. The guard and pommel cap are both present with a high copper content look to the brass. On the top of the pommel cap as well as on the blade, it has the "A.D.K." inspector initials. These are the initials of the inspector, A.D. King. The original leather is mostly present but the wire was missing from the handle so we had it professionally restored for display and preservation purposes. The sword is accompanied by an original and complete scabbard with a cool ancient look. This is a nice looking authentic Civil War cavalry saber especially for the price.
