This is a neat document! It is an original Confederate receipt where the State of South Carolina purchases "Packaged" buckshot. This pre-printed document has a great looking tan color with the blanks filled in using ancient brown ink. Across the top of the document it is dated from April 3rd 1862 from Charleston, South Carolina. It states that they "Received of the ORDNANCE OFFICER of the State of South Carolina, for Mr. J.M. Happolt lead cast into Buckshot.". What is cool is that John M. Happoldt made dueling pistols and perhaps Deringers in Charleston, South Carolina from 1826 through 1865. The document measures 8 inches by 6-1/2 inches in size. This is a neat little glimpse into how the Confederacy armed the soldiers.
