This is a cool looking sword! It is an original WW1 era naval cutlass. This is the pattern that is officially known as the Dutch Netherlands Klewang Cutlass model M1898-M1911. This is the sword that the U.S. model 1917 naval cutlass was patterned after. They have a few differences such as the hand guard having the trimmed out areas compared to the U.S. version with the closed guard. This one has the full-length blade that measures 24-1/2 inches in length with the clip style point. Each side of the blade has the single fuller running down the center. The blade is made without any maker marking. It has the single piece iron hand guard with a pleasing look. On the handle of the cutlass it has the original 2-piece grip riveted in place. This is a cool looking cutlass from all angles.
