This is an attractive original Civil War era powder flask. This one has the body has the sides with the matching design that shows the two ducks or geese fighting in the center. It has the floral design around the edge. The sides of the flask are made of the pewter / zinc material and they display well as you can see. The sides have old repairs to the zing with a couple of holes. It stands about 6-1/2 inches tall and is about 3 inches across. The spout is present with the original spring. What is special about this flask is that it is the design that has what is known as a "sloping charger". These were made for loading pistols and they are often referred to as the "navy charger". These are much tougher to find than the standard straight charger version. This is the pattern that is used to illustrate flask #844 in Riling's Powder Flask Book. This is the style flask that was popular during the mid-1800’s. It has a very attractive heavily worn overall look!
