Here is a very cool gun! This is a very nice looking British Military flintlock pistol. This is the pattern that is known as a New Land Pattern officer's Flintlock Pistol. It is crisply marked on the lock-plate "KETLAND & Co." behind the hammer. In front of the hammer it has the English Crown stamp and the "GR". This pattern of gun was made about 1805. The mechanics of the lockplate are still fully functional in all positions. This is the correct style for our War of 1812 timeframe as well as the European wars known as the Napoleonic Wars. During this timeframe, the British Government began to rely heavily upon the British privately owned gun trade and between 1804 and 1817 a total of 1,827,889 muskets, rifles, carbines, and pistols were manufactured for the Government. This pistol is one made by the British arsenal at the Tower of London. The 9 inch barrel stamped with two London proof marks. It has the correct English regulation brass military fittings for the grip cap, triggerguard, ramrod channel guide and nose cap. The stock of the gun has a nice looking well worn appearance with some age cracks as you can see in the images. The gun has an overall length of 16 inches. This is a very nice original Flintlock officer's pistol dating from the War of 1812 and Napoleonic era. What a great gun!
