Here is a wonderful piece of reunion history from the union side of the Civil War. This is one of the 5 piece veterans badge is referred to by collectors as the "ladder" badge. They get their nickname because when the veteran ordered the badge, he could have his many rungs added to the ladder as he wanted to pay for. This ladder badge has the four rungs. It states that the soldier was in company "K" of the 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. This Regiment got their weapons in Cincinnati in the fall of 1862. They spent their service in the early part of the War in Tennessee and Kentucky. They fought with Sherman in the Atlanta Campaign and then went to Tennessee where they fought at Spring Hill and Nashville. The badge is in nice condition and has the original pin on the back as well as the fringe tassel on the bottom. The badge is accompanied by a brief printout of the Civil War service history of the 103rd Ohio Infantry. The piece measures 4-3/4th inches x 2-1/8th inches in overall size.
