This is a neat looking sword that doesn't cost a fortune. This is a nice original infantry sword from the Napoleonic era. The French who are credited with designing the sword referred to them as an "Briquet". They were manufactured from the early 1800s to the mid-1800s. It has a full-length blade that measures 22-1/2 inches in overall size. On the front side of the blade it has the script writing that states that it was made in Toledo (Spain) and was made in 1832. The guard on this sword has a more French look to it. Most of the ones you encounter are French made. The original handle is manufactured using a sturdy and dependable cast brass technique. When this sword left the Arsenal originally it would've had the scabbard made of leather and brass. As you can imagine they damaged easily and are almost always missing as is the case with this one. A good display sword for your wall and displays much better than the $295 price.
