Here is a beautiful original buckle. This is the style of buckle for the state of New York that is illustrated on page 504 of the belt buckle book by O'Donnell and Campbell. It is designed for a New York militia officer and would date according to them, from 1890 to 1905. The buckle itself is made of cast brass that is beautifully mellow color to the brass with the wreath and letters. The face of the buckle has the stippled background with the script "NY" lettering in the center surrounded by the wreath. On the back of the plate it has the original belt loop and keeper hook. This plate is in beautiful condition all the way around.
