This is a nice displaying Civil War leather box that held the percussion caps for muskets, pistols or carbines. This one is in very nice shape and has a very attractive well worn look. It has both of the belt loops intact on the back of the box but one is separated. On the outer flap with the closure tab and brass finial intact. On the inner flap you can see the remnants of the Civil War maker’s mark of Haedrich of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania still visible. The inner flap is nice and has both of the "ears” present on the sides. On the inner pocket it has had the lamb’s wool removed. The wool was designed to keep the percussion caps from falling out but made the caps harder to access so the soldiers often removed it. This is a nice displaying original classic Civil War percussion cap box that is still affordable.
