This is a nice looking Civil War era single shot pistol that doesn't cost a fortune. This is the style that was made in England and it has the "LONDON across the top of the 4-5/8ths inch barrel. It was designed to fire a about a .41 caliber bullet from the barrel. At the breech of the barrel it has the double silver bands inlaid into the metal and the barrel tang has the ornate engraving. The lockplate has the engraved maker’s mark of "IN WADSWORTH”. The action of the back-action style lockplate works well on all positions. The gun displays beautifully and has the iron furniture for the triggerguard and ramrod guide. On the end of the grip it has the small silver cap that opens to reveal the compartment to hold extra caps. The wood has a fine look to the front side as well as the back. It is missing the ramrod under the barrel and it appears ot have been gone for eons. This is a very nice looking gun all the way around.
