Here is an extremely scarce little gun! This is the gun known to collectors as the Springfield Arms Co. belt model revolver. In Flayderman's guide he states that there were only about 100 of these guns manufactured with the 1851 patent marking. These guns were all manufactured in 1851 by the Springfield Arms Company of Springfield, Massachusetts. This 31 caliber 6 shot revolver has the full-length barrel that measures 4 inches in overall length. Along the backstrap, you can still see the maker's Mark of the Springfield Arms Company. The side of the frame has the floral designs engraved into the metal. The right-hand side of the frame has the remnants of the January 1851 patent date. The mechanics of the gun still work fluidly on all positions. On the grip of the gun the original 2 piece Walnut grips are intact with a pleasing tone to the wood. One thing that makes this one neat is that it is accompanied by the majority of the original leather holster. The holster has the brown leather on the outside with the red Moroccan leather on the inside for lining. This is one of the tougher to find versions of the desirable guns manufactured by the Springfield Arms Company.
