This is a nice looking original German Imperial officer’s sword from the 1st World War. These were officially known as the Imperial German Model 1889 Infantry Officer’s Sword. This pattern of sword has a beautiful hand guard. It has the imperial style German eagle with the monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II on the brass guard that folds down. The original handle has been replaced with a piece of wood. On the right hand side it has the cipher of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The blade is full-length at 29 inches. At the base of the blade it has the maker’s mark of Ernst Pack still partially visible. The sword is missing the scabbard as is so often the case. This is a good displaying sword from the First World War that doesn't cost a fortune.
