This is a tough to find original Civil War era sword! It is an original Civil War era cavalry saber. This is the Enfield pattern cavalry saber. Many of this pattern sabers were imported for use by Confederate cavalrymen. The sword is completely unmarked. Since it is made without the British markings it has a better chance of being one that was sent to North America. We can’t say that it came here during the Civil War but in could have, and it could have been for either side. This one has a nice full-length blade with a pleasing look all over. The iron hand guard and backstrap are still present and they are nice and tight. The handle of the sword has the original pressed leather grip on each side that is very nice for one of this style as you can see. The sword is accompanied by a complete and original metal scabbard. The scabbard has both mounts, rings, drag and throat intact. This is a nice looking Civil War era Enfield cavalry saber as you can see.
