Here is a very pretty sword for the price! This is the sword officially referred to as the U.S. model 1860 staff & field officer’s sword. This name is a little misleading since almost all of the swords of this pattern were made in the late 1800’s. This one was probably made about 1890 or so. It has the very nicely blade that is full-length. This one was made without any etching or engraving on the blade. At the base of the blade it has the trademark of the German firm that made it for the American market. It has a nice color to the brass of the hand guard and pommel cap. The hand guard has the beautiful Union eagle on the clam shell side of the guard. The original grip is remaining with 100% of the original leather grip and the entire winding holding it in place. The sword is accompanied by the original scabbard that is complete and has a very nice look all over. The sword still retains a fine amount of the original nickel plating from the factory. This is a pretty sword for the price of a U.S. buckle costs these days.
