This is a great looking gun. This is one of the scarce series 1 pocket model revolver's made by the famous Manhattan Firearms Company. In Flayderman's guide he states that there were only about 1000 of these series 1 revolvers produced. He also notes that they were manufactured from 1858 until 1862 and that they were manufactured in Newark, New Jersey. Along the top of the full-length 4 inch barrel it has the double line stamping of the Manhattan Firearms Manufacturing Company as well as their New York City sales office location. These guns are beautifully designed and have the scroll and floral style engraving on the barrel frame, backstrap and trigger guard. The gun has all matching serial numbers of 506, with the slightly large "@" in front. This likely means it was one of a set of two at one time. This one was produced with the cylinder that has the rolled scene. You can still see a fine amount of the scene. The gun has the pleasing burl tone to the wood. It has had a few chips restored and quite well at that. The mechanics of the gun work fluidly on all positions. This is simply a beautiful gun from all angles and a quite scarce one as well.
