This is one of the toughest to find of all of the Civil War cadet buttons. This one was worn by one of the cadets of the Nashville Military College in Nashville, Tennessee. The college produced such amazing Confederate heroes such as Sam Davis and John Watson Morton (Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Chief of Artillery). This one displays superbly as it retains a superb amount of the original gold gilding on the button face. The design has the droop wing style eagle perched on the shield. It has the flags and the cannon design by the shield. Across the top it proudly reads "CADET" and along the bottom it has the Nashville Military College marking of "N.M.C." It has the original back and shank intact with the correct Scovill maker’s mark on the reverse. This is the style listed as SU279 in Albert's button book and TNS250a in Tice's Book. This is a gorgeous Nashville Military College coat size cadet button.
