This is an attractive non-excavated Civil War eagle sword belt buckle. This is the style that was worn on the sword belt of many Civil War officers. It has the beautiful spread wing pattern eagle in the center of the buckle. The eagle has the ribbon coming from her beak that reads the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM. This is the pattern that has the integrally cast wreath around the eagle with the pebble grain style background. On the back of the buckle it has the original small size keeper hook intact. You can see that this plate saw quite a bit of service so it is a good thing it was so well constructed. This is an attractive non-excavated eagle sword belt buckle for your collection.
