This is a good looking and scarce version of Civil War era six shot pepperbox pattern revolver. It has the 3-1/2 inch barrel length that fires a .28 caliber bullet from the chambers. This one is the six shot version. The side of the fluted cylinder has the remnants of the Stocking & Company Maker’s mark as well as the Worcester, Connecticut production location. It also has the "WARRANTED CAST-STEEL" stamping. The action of theses guns are different than the standard Allen & Thurber pepperbox. These are designed with the cocking spur on the back of the bar hammer. When you push down the hammer spur the cylinder rotates. This gun still rotates well even after the years of use. The sides of the frame have the floral pattern scroll work. The original 2-piece walnut grips are present on the handle of the gun. The walnut has a pleasing look to the wood that has the silver diamond shaped inlays. This is a nice looking and functional Civil War era pepperbox of the scarce Stocking & Company.
